SPIKE - Chapter 0 Illustrationby ~nocturnalMoTH

This time it's an illustration from chapter 0 of my story/novel "Spike" ---> [link]
(ps: he's human in the story though. He's only anthro when I draw him)

In the story, Spike is supposed to be surrounded by complete darkness, but since I of course couldn't just make this picture all black as that would've been silly, I added a minor light source.

This drawing might look a bit like the one I titled "incest", since they're both in a fetal position, but I really like drawing Spike in that position - he looks so...scared, unsafe, and... being in a fetal position just says so much about him somehow. It's hard to describe, especially because it's quite early in the morning and I'm sleepy.

I hope you like this picture, and that it's not too dark. The colors look fine on my computer, but I know that colors and brightness change from computer to computer. Annoying, no? Makes digital coloring quite difficult...

oh, and this is traditionally sketched, and colored in Photoshop.

Body proportions are very well done. Lighting is very professional signifying he's in a dark place. I like the body, showing the ribs and such. Makes me think of one who's been in captivity.
I'll give the vision a Five

originality, average (you see alot of these kinds of pics in many places, usually in same position and setting.)

Technique looks a little simple, though who am i to judge. i can't even use photoshop XP

Impact/Overall, good piece. Gives the feeling of deep insecurity. Leaving you feel cold, unsafe and alone.

Good job. Keep up the good work, would really love to see more from ya

I was looking at it, an d it is early in the morning but anyhow it looked like he was breathing in and out and the darkness just kinda became a little darker but when you look again or blink its the same as it always was.
But to me in the story he will always be an anthro but i don't know why -.- But that is some good artwork =3

so... He's human in the story ? Too late, Spike will always be an Anthro for me ^^' And you know what ? i think you should do an illustration for each chapter, it would be awesome o/

Oh. This actually answers the question I was having. I just found your story today (amazing work, by the way), but I couldn't tell if in the story the characters were human or anthro. But, now I know.
